Our resources below will help you maximize your opportunities and prepare you for a secure retirement.

Confused About Your Plan?

Knowing your LASERS retirement plan is important because your retirement eligibility and other details vary depending on this information.

LASERS administers more than twenty retirement plans, so if you are confused about which plan you are in, there are several different ways to find this information.

Check out our video, which focuses on regular LASERS member plans and how to know when you are eligible to retire.

Are You Participating?

As a public employee of the State of Louisiana, you can choose to participate in the Louisiana Public Employees Deferred Compensation Plan, administered by Empower Retirement. This plan allows you to supplement your LASERS retirement by saving and investing pretax dollars through a voluntary salary contribution.
Only 26% of state employees participate in Deferred Comp, which means another 74% are not taking advantage of a benefit that can make retirement more affordable.
Watch our video to learn about the benefits of participating in Deferred Compensation to supplement your future LASERS retirement benefit.

Have You Attended a Workshop?

No matter where you are in your career, it is important to make a plan for your future retirement. LASERS offers two workshops for active members that cover valuable information you need to plan your journey to retirement.

An Early Career seminar is for newer LASERS members hired on or after January 1, 2011, who are not eligible for retirement in the next five years.

The Pre-Retirement Education Program (PREP) will give you all the information you need to plan for your future retirement, and is recommended for any active member within three – five years of retirement.

Are You Retirement Ready?

The Retirement Readiness Section of the LASERS website contains all of the relevant publications, videos, and additional partner sites that we encourage active members to review while preparing for retirement.
