Early Career | For newer LASERS members hired on or after January 1, 2011, who are not eligible for retirement in the next five years. This seminar introduces members to the benefits offered by LASERS, emphasizes the value of State employment and membership in a defined benefit retirement plan, and provides ways to enhance future retirement benefits today. A representative from the Louisiana Deferred Compensation Program will also attend to provide additional methods to save now for retirement. The Early Career seminars are approximately 1.5 hours in length. Detailed information on the types of retirement will not be presented. Members within five years of retirement should consider attending a Pre-Retirement Education Program (PREP) instead. |

The LASERS staff offers a Pre-Retirement Education Program (PREP) that will give you all the information you need to plan for your future. Find out about eligibility requirements for retirement, purchase of service credit, the Deferred Retirement Option Plan (DROP), the Initial Benefit Option (IBO), and much more. PREP seminars are approximately four hours in length and usually held between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. or 12:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. If you would prefer to mail or fax an application, you may use the mail-in PREP application form. |
