Your contribution rate is set by statute at 8.0% of your annual salary for employees hired on/after July 1, 2006. The state’s contribution to your retirement (paid by LASERS) is determined annually and is based on an actuarial formula provided by law. Your contribution is deducted from your paycheck every two weeks.
Additional information can be found in the LASERS Member’s Guide to Retirement.
Deferred Compensation Plan
The Louisiana Deferred Compensation Plan is an IRS Section 457 deferred compensation plan that allows public employees to participate in a tax-sheltered program. Deferred compensation is income that the employee chooses not to receive in the payroll period in which it is earned. This plan is offered as a benefit to LASERS employees, and participation is optional. Additional information can be obtained through the Human Resources Division.

LASERS offers a choice of health benefits plans to full-time employees. The choices may include a Health Maintenance Organization, Consumer Driven Health Plan or Preferred Provider Organization.
