We’re Celebrating 80 Years of Service!

This month, LASERS proudly celebrates 80 years of serving Louisiana’s public employees, retirees, and beneficiaries.

Established by the Louisiana Legislature in July 1946, LASERS began with an initial investment of $725,000.

Today, the System administers 24 retirement plans, serves nearly 100,000 members and their families on behalf of 346 employers statewide, and manages more than $17 billion in assets.

Over the past eight decades, LASERS has grown alongside the workforce it serves, adapting to changing times, embracing new technology, and strengthening retirement security for generations of Louisiana public servants.

Throughout July, we’ll be sharing memorable moments and the people who helped shape LASERS into the organization it is today.
