2026 LOUISIANA LEGISLATIVE SESSION

The 2026 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature began on Monday, March 9, 2026, and is scheduled to conclude no later than 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 1, 2026.

Throughout the Session, LASERS will monitor proposed legislation that could impact our members and the System. Below is a list of bills that would have an impact, if passed.

HB 45 Bacala LASERS & MPERS Requires certain employees who qualify for the Municipal Police Employees’ Retirement System (MPERS) nonhazardous duty plan to transfer from LASERS to MPERS. Adopted in House Concurrence Neutral
HB 312 McFarland State Makes a supplemental appropriation of $59,986,989 to LASERS to reduce the System’s UAL. Adopted in House Concurrence Support
