Prepare for Retirement with Confidence

It’s important to remember that retirement is not an overnight process and involves teamwork – you, your agency, LASERS, and ample planning time.

Take these important steps to prepare for the next chapter:

  • Utilize our comprehensive Ready to Retire webpage, to access our 12-month checklist and Retirement Readiness planner, familiarize yourself with OGB health insurance, learn what to expect as an applicant for retirement, and more.
  • Log in to your myLASERS account to review your membership information, upload documents, create benefit estimates, submit eForms, and more.

  • Start gathering the documents you’ll need: birth certificates and Social Security cards for you and your beneficiary, marriage license if applicable, and any divorce or death certificates related to prior spouses. Submitting these early streamlines your application process and reduces delays.​

  • Watch the Countdown to Retirement video.
  • Attend a Pre-Retirement Education Seminar (PREP) for expert guidance on retirement eligibility requirements, how to purchase service credit, various retirement options, and more.

  • Keep your contact information and banking details current in myLASERS to ensure secure delivery of your monthly benefit and communications.

  • Attend the Retiree Workshop at LASERS or online, usually held annually in the summer.
